Hacks (Program Extensions)
What's a Hack?
A hack can be considered as a program extension with the ability
for
added functionality to do something extra beyond the current
capability of your software.
Some people think of a hack as "putting your
PDA on steroids." For a detailed description of hacks and how they
work, the reader is referred elsewhere.
For example, you can switch from one program to another and back to your original program just by a single stroke on your silkscreen when you are ready to change to the other program. These particular types of hacks give you the ability to do MULTI-TASKING on a PDA OS that was originally designed to do one function at a time.
Many Hacks and Hackmaster/X-Master cannot be
used with Palm OS 5.x!
I will provide you with a work-around for this problem
later in this section. You may go here
to read a detailed explanation of why hacks do not work with Palm OS 5.0 or
higher.
How can you tell what Palm Operating System (OS) version you have?
| Find and tap on the Applications program and then tap the menu button on the silkscreen. |
1. |
| Select "Info." |
|
| Tap "Version" and read the Palm OS version. In this screenshot, the Palm OS version is 4.1. You know X-Master and Hacks will work fine with your Operating System. Tap "Done" to exit out of this screen. |
