For health professionals, HIPPA regulations mandate that patient information be kept confidential. If you were to lose or misplace your PDA, that confidentiality could be breached. Most patient tracking programs already have built in security systems; however, there are some alternative solutions.

Perhaps you also like to keep your website user names and passwords or software installation codes or frequent flyer information on your PDA.  Whatever reason, you better keep prying eyes away! By the way, I wouldn't keep items such as credit card numbers or your social security number on your PDA. Some hacker will likely find a way to un-encrypt your data.

There are different methods to secure your sensitive information.  The  most commonly used methods used for those programs without built-in security will be discussed in this module.
