Dr. Lawrence Brown, an Assistant Professor in the college of pharmacy, completed his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California in 1999. But, he began his career in pharmacy as a U.S. Air Force Pharmacy Technician from 1985 to 1991. He has also worked in Independent, Chain, and grocery store pharmacies. Dr. Brown completed his Ph.D. in Social and Administrative Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota in 1999. His main research interests are the economic and clinical outcomes of Pharmacists-Provided Medication Therapy Management Services, pharmacist salary and workplace issues, and consumer perception of pharmacists’ roles within the health care system.

 Dr. Brown is a member of a number of professional associations, including the American Pharmacists Association, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the Academy Health Association, and the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity.

He is past Speaker of the House of Delegates for APhA-ASP and the American Pharmacists Association. He the currently Parliamentarian for the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, and the National Graduate Member at large for the Kappa Psi International Pharmaceutical Fraternity. Dr. Brown has received many awards and honors, including the California Pharmacists Association “Pharmacy Student of the Year” Award in 1999, and is a member of the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society, as well as Phi Lambda Sigma Leadership Society.

Dr. Brown served on the planning committee and as moderator for the 2005 AHRQ MTMS Expert Meeting, and on the planning committee and as speaker for the 2006 International Symposium on Medication Therapy Management. Dr. Brown created and teaches a required course in Medication Therapy Management course for the second-year Pharm.D. students. He has also given over 50 invited presentations around the United States, as well as France, Hungary, and Thailand. Dr. Brown currently holds joint appointments with the UT College of Medicine, Dept of Preventive Medicine, Xavier University College of Pharmacy, and the University of Arizona, College of Pharmacy.

Dr. Brown and his wife have been married for over twelve years, and they are the proud parents to three girls; Leilani May, Kalea.Kai, and Lauren their 9 year-old Black Lab.
