Dr. Solomon's research and practice interests include the evaluation of pharmaceutical care provided to patients and evaluation of appropriate medication use systems. Another focus area is the evaluation of pharmacy data systems that facilitate management of patient drug therapy in acute care and ambulatory settings. Specifically, he has been involved with measuring hypertensive, COPD, and hyperlipidemia patients' drug therapy post provision of pharmaceutical care, and the impact on patient outcomes. These outcomes include patient medication compliance, patient knowledge of disease state and medications, patient quality of life, and utilization of health care resources. Dr. Solomon is also interested in the evaluation of practice activities of pharmacists in acute care, ambulatory care, and home health care settings. Additionally, Dr. Solomon has numerous publications and serves on several journal editorial boards (Pharmacy Practice Management Quarterly, Hospital Pharmacy, Veterans Health System Journal).
