Virginia Trotter Betts, RN, MSN, JD,
FAAN, is Associate Director for Health Policy Initiatives and Professor of Nursing. She coordinates health policy outreach functions. Her primary interests include mental health, public health, and enhancing health policy decision-making.A graduate of the University of Tennessee, the Vanderbilt School of Nursing, and the Nashville School of Law, Ms. Betts is one of only twelve nurses to have been chosen for the prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellowship. She has held previous positions at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing and the Vanderbilt Institute for Public Policy Studies. In March, 2000, Ms. Betts was awarded the Surgeon General’s Medallion for her contributions to the public’s health.
