COURSE POLICIES
§ Students should only enroll in the course if they are prepared to give a seminar at any time during the semester (i.e. from the second week to the last week of the semester).
§ Student seminars will be scheduled by the course director within the first week of each semester and published on the departmental website.
§ Enrolled students may voice preferences for scheduling before the start of the semester, but these may not be considered dependent on the number of students giving presentations and the scheduling of outside guest speakers.
§ Students are obligated to present at their assigned seminar date a research seminar based on their research work and/or associated research data (including data generated by others that provide the basis for their research work or support their own research findings.
§ Students are required to email their seminar title at least one week before their scheduled seminar date to the course director and Ms. Felicia Martin (fmartin7@utmem.edu). Failure to do so will result in a grade reduction and lack of announcement of the seminar presentation.
§ The only accepted excuses for not presenting a seminar at a scheduled date are the same as outlined in the policy on participation in examinations of the College of Pharmacy (illness as documented by a licensed healthcare provider, mental crisis, or participation in official school function (e.g. attendance of a scientific meeting)). Absence of the major advisor at the scheduled seminar slot is not an acceptable excuse.
§ Students may switch their seminar schedule dates among each other, but need to notify the course director of this switch at least 2 weeks before the seminar date.
§ After publication of the seminar schedule during the first week of each semester, some students may have to be rescheduled by the course director for later seminar dates if their original seminar date is needed to accommodate an outside guest speaker. No student will be scheduled at an earlier date than his/her original seminar date.
