Pharmaceutics includes drug product technology, biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics. Drug product technology involves the design, development and evaluation of novel drug delivery systems, parenteral dosage forms, and performulation studies of biotechnology drugs. Biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics includes the study of the disposition and pharmacodynamics of drugs and metabolites in humans, animals and tissue culture. In addition to the study of, evaluation of and development of pharmaceutical dosage forms, the Department, through the Pharmaceutics area, is a leader in the training of professionals in the pharmaceutical industry, offering courses in both Parenterals Medication Technologies (offered in conjunction with the UT Parenteral Medications Laboratories) and in Tablet Technology.
